My Journey to Amazon SDE!
#100Stories is a series of transformational stories of courage and indomitable will to excel, picked from the lives of tech students, particularly in India. Initiative by Programming Pathshala.
Hi everyone,
My name is Gurinder and I am from Punjab. I am a 2020 graduate from Lovely Professional University, Punjab. I have worked as an Associate Software Engineer in Rakuten for 1 year and now in the coming 2 months, I am going to join Amazon as SDE.
My family is Proud of me and nothing makes me happier than that feeling. All the credits goes to Programming Pathshala.
My Journey to Amazon through Renaissance (Programming Pathshala):
I remember joining a workshop in June-July 2019 which was held by Programming Pathshala, but after it got over in a month, I stopped practicing problems. I later joined another training program by Programming Patshala itself in the year 2019–20 for 2 weeks and after it ended, I again stopped practicing.
Soon I got placed at Rakuten and remember calling Anoop veerji, that I got placed at Rakuten but in the Testing Domain, He asked me to keep preparing and join the course Renaissance.
I joined Rakuten and Renaissance simultaneously and it’s been a year since I have been associated with Programming Pathshala as well as Rakuten now.
I did give up many times before, but this time when I joined the course, I made sure that I was consistent with it and practiced problem solving everyday. As you can see, The results speak louder today!
My Resume Building process:
I don’t have many Tips or tricks to share with you all for Resume building because the Structure of your resume depends upon the number of Work experience you have in terms of years but do check Programming Pathshala’s blog for Resume building tips and tricks. It helped me the most, it includes all sorts of guidance that one needs to follow while building their resumes.
My Interview process at Amazon:
I remember getting a text from Anoop veeji that my resume has been forwarded to Amazon’s team for hiring. Soon I received a call from the Amazon Recruitment team enquiring about my available timings to conduct the further rounds of interviews.
There were 3 rounds of interviews, mostly revolving around DSA and a few Behavioral Questions.
One thing I found similar was that each and every question asked in the interview was from the curriculum I covered under Renaissance. It was either taught in the Live Class or the Recorded lecture but I knew each and every question by heart.
I definitely would not call the Interview as easy but question practicing at Programming Pathshala does make the process much easier.
About the course “Renaissance”:
Honestly, there is nothing that the course Lacks, everything about the course “Renaissance” is exceptionally well structured. The content, the platform, the guidance, and everything else is Great. It made me feel so confident about the Interviews, as I have only given 2 Interviews in my life before I applied to Amazon. One was at Rakuten where I got placed and the other was Zestmoney. I was not a part of my college Placement drives which ended up making me not so confident about Interviews, but the guidance that I received from Programming Pathshala helped me a lot, I gave a lot of Mock Interviews and it boosted my confidence to go through the Amazon’s Interview process. The 1:1 sessions that are conducted here are very much helpful to build someone’s confidence.
Anoop veerji has been my Favorite throughout the course, he has always been there for each and every student at Programming Pathshala. Be it personal or professional problems. When he talks, you can genuinely feel so much lighter from within.
A Word of Advice to my Fellow Programmers:
To everyone out there preparing to become future SDE’s, Please never give up. Keep practicing problem solving every day. Maintain a habit of giving a few hours of your day to the course everyday and I am pretty sure that you will come out with Flying colours.
