#100Stories is a series of transformational stories of courage and indomitable will to excel, picked from the lives of tech students, particularly in India. Initiative by Programming Pathshala.

Hi everyone,

I am Utkarsh, a student of Programming Pathshala and currently I am working as a Software Development Engineer at Qualcomm in ML Domain. Previously, I had also worked with Zestmoney and TCS in the Digital Role and now it feels great to join Qualcomm, meet innovative new colleagues and grow.

My Interview Journey with Qualcomm:

Renaissance helped me a lot to build an effective resume. I feel fortunate that I was invited by the recruiter himself to join and didn’t have to apply from anywhere else. For my Interview rounds at Qualcomm, I had 3 rounds out of which 2 were technical based upon coding and fundamentals and the last one was Hiring Manager’s round. The Complete Interview process was based upon ML role only.

How I managed to reach Qualcomm:

I began preparing with Renaissance in April 2020. Although when I began with it initially I found it a little difficult as I wasn’t in touch with coding since the college days. I gathered courage and made up my mind to learn coding and problem solving ability. As I continued the course, It was pretty smooth and all the concepts were cleared and helped me all throughout the journey. The course covers every topic from basic to advanced in a great way.

What kept me motivated?

Initially, I didn’t think of switching jobs. I just wanted to learn and try my hands on coding as mentioned earlier. I wasn’t in touch with coding for a really long time but consistency helped me all these months to keep me motivated. I began by solving one problem one day; and it helped me a lot. Being consistent with your preparation, even if you solve just one question a day can do great for your future.

Advice for my fellow soon-to-be SDE’s:

Focus more on the quality problems. Even if you solve a single problem daily, It will be just enough but make sure you at least solve one problem everyday. Do some good projects so that you can discuss them in an interview. Try to focus on team based projects as they enhance your leadership as well as teamwork skills.
